I want to continue with the topic of thoughts because they play a vital role in our everyday life and walk with God. Our thoughts determine whether or not we walk in peace or turmoil, regardless of our prayers.
Philippians 4:6-8
6 Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your life, 7 then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, will make the answers known to you through Jesus Christ. 8 So keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always.

This passage is a foundational truth for all believers. We are instructed not to worry about anything no matter how hopeless it may appear. Situations may arise that will shake our very core if we allow them. Circumstances might happen that will shatter our emotions and make us feel like we cannot live. Such life events require spiritual and emotional healing. We must allow Holy Spirit to be our Comforter while our thoughts are focused on praising God.
These verses are a great example of what abiding in His presence looks like. When we live a life of communion through prayer, God’s peace is made available to us. All we have to do is receive it by faith not being moved by what we see. Our Father created us to be dependent on Him and not ourselves. We need to rejoice because the One who created every fiber of our being is taking care of our needs and always will. When we commune with God we will know His heart for us, which will increase our faith. He did not send His Son to abandon us but to be our Guard and Shield.
It is impossible to walk in transcendental peace if we stop reading at verse 7. What benefit is it if we give our petitions to God when we still worry after our requests are made known? Our thoughts CANNOT come into alignment with God’s word when we walk by sight, and our circumstances will become an idol. Faith mixed with worry will not produce life in the same way a stream cannot contain clean and polluted water. There is no room for doubt when our mind is renewed daily by God’s word. When our thoughts are filled with God’s word, not our problems, we will walk in His peace.
God created us!!! Therefore, He knows our needs before we know that we need them. Do not be afraid to approach the Lord boldly with needs He already knows. Praise God for knowing what is best for us! Our thoughts need to be seated with Christ above all thoughts that are thrown at us by the powers of darkness. We must refuse to put our situations above the power of the blood of Jesus. God knows every moment of our future. Rest in the truth that our “unknowns” are known by God. Meditate on His promises, holiness, and faithfulness to take care of us, and His peace will see us through anything we encounter.
Father,
We thank You for Your word and faithfulness to fulfill it according to Your will. We praise You for the glorious reconciliation through Your Son, Jesus. We set our hearts to worship You and Your

goodness. We ask that You teach us the importance of our thought life. As a man thinks, so is he. Our hearts’ cry is for our thoughts and ways to be Your thoughts and ways. As we renew our minds daily by Your word, bring our thoughts into greater alignment with Yours.
